As per the industry assessment, China’s wine production may drop by 10.4% in 2017 .
The county’s total wine production has been dropping since 2013. In 2016, total production was 11.37 million hectolitres, a 1% decline compared to 2015, and 2017 showed negative growth from February to June. According to the National Statistics Bureau, the drop may reach 10.4% by the end of the year.
In the same time, China’s wine imports increase in volume and value. China is ranked as the second-largest vineyard in the world by OIV, with 847,000 hectares.

From January to June 2017, China imported 254 million litres of wines for US$ 1.146 billion, a 13.9% increase in volume and a 3.34% increase in value over the same period last year, according to Chinese Customs.
