The Delhi government has asked for physical re-verification of nearly 40 restaurants, hotels, and clubs in the national Capital, which were sealed after the sale of liquor within 500 m of highways was banned by the Supreme Court from April 1.
The sealed establishments included two clubs and 19 hotels.
The hotel owners had approached the government’s Excise Department, urging that their licenses be restored to them. The owners claimed that their establishments were far away from the 500 m distance limit.
The Excise Department has formed a committee in this regard.
Over 100 liquor vends, restaurants, and hotel bars located within 500 m of national and state highways were shut down in the city following the SC order.
